Scholars' Travel Fund

NOTICE

The Office of the Provost and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (OVCRI) are partnering on an expansion of the Scholars’ Travel Fund (STF) to support specialized faculty. The Specialized Faculty Scholars’ Travel Fund (SF-STF) program pilot will offer partial support for travel to one conference convening per year for specialized faculty to present original scholarly research and/or creative work. Support will be provided at standardized amounts by destination, as with the STF program for tenure-track faculty. SF-STF support can supplement, but will not reduce, professional development funds available under the Non-Tenure Faculty Coalition collective bargaining agreement.

This pilot program will take effect August 16, 2022, with the same monthly deadlines as the standard STF, through August 15, 2025.

The Scholars' Travel Fund (STF) is a Campus Research Board program that supports University of Illinois faculty members who are presenting original scholarly research and creative work at academic gatherings, such as national disciplinary meetings and specialized conferences.

Please note that participation as a keynote speaker, discussant, chair, or invited lecturer at individual campuses, and research-related travel is not supported by the STF program. While funding will be provided for up to three faculty members for the same presentation, each faculty member must submit a separate application.

Eligible Illinois faculty members must apply online.  Applicants can save the application online and return to complete it at a later time. A separate application must be submitted for each travel request.

Please note that an application will not be reviewed until it has been successfully submitted.
